Well, well, well, lookie what we found here! A French PDA review site has confirmed that Windows Mobile 6 has indeed been spotted running on the Dash (S620)...

    http://www.pdafrance.com/articles/logicielsppc/2007-02-08/id700/Windows-Mobile-6---Premieres-impressions/

... which confirms the previously dubious pictures that leaked on the xda-developers forum...

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291704M

... looks like we could just see Windows Mobile 6 on newer versions of the Dash indeed. Hopefully a downloable upgrade will be available to previous Dash owners.

Check out some pictures of Windows Mobile 6 Professional here.

UPDATE #1: Another confirmation that WMP 6 is on the Dash (S620)!

HTC Cavalier Unboxing Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version
    Wednesday, January 24 2007 @ 10:05 PM MST
    Contributed by: .PoNeH

Looks like the guys at The Boy Genius Report have had the honor of unboxing the Dash's new successor; the HTC Cavalier. Some of the upgrades include a faster 400 MHz processor, a 2MP camera, 128MB flash memory, and a slightly different form factor. However, HTC has postponed the device "indefinitely". I believe it'll be some time before these beauties are seen on the shelves.

    Check it out here .

Fortte's Open Face Leather Smartphone Case Released Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version
    Thursday, November 30 2006 @ 04:11 PM MST
    Contributed by: .PoNeH

Well, well, well. Looks like Fortte was able to sneak in the Dash's new case just in time for holiday shopping. Although it looks somewhat awkward, I believe that it is the best that could be done to protect the device without getting in the way of its keyboard.

    Some of the features include:

  • Dedicated Fit for T-Mobile Dash
  • Available WITH different clip options to suit any lifestyle or WITHOUT any clip.
  • Open access to screen and control surfaces (no clear plastic covering)
  • Access to all side controls
  • Full screen visibility
  • Premium Full Grain Leather

Customers are also able to customize the device to their liking. You can choose between the fixed belt clip, swivel clip, or no belt clip option. You can also choose from 41 different color combinations. Finally, one can add their logo or any text they'd like on the back of the case. Go ahead and grab one at Fortte's site.

Warning: Opera Mini 3.0 Incompatibility Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version
    Wednesday, November 29 2006 @ 08:49 AM MST
    Contributed by: Devin

Opera announced yesterday that it had released Opera Mini 3.0. Having joined many other Dash users that were successfully running Opera Mini 2.0 I went for the upgrade. Unfortunately there are numerous problems with it, and as such I would avoid the upgrade for now.

After installation, Opera Mini will load and a lot of the buttons will be messed up, most noticeably the left soft key doesn't work at all and pressing the different letter keys will have unexpected results.

There is a thread about this problem at the Opera forums, and myself and other Dash users are working with Opera to get the problem fixed. In the meantime, I suggest staying with Opera Mini 2.0 if you have not already upgraded, and I will be sure to keep you all posted when a solution is found.

The HTC Cavalier is announced as the Dash's successor Email Article To a Friend View Printable Version

Right on cue, now that everyone's got an Excalibur (i.e. T-Mobile Dash), HTC's latest creation shows up online.

Right on cue, now that everyone's got an Excalibur (i.e. T-Mobile Dash), HTC's latest creation shows up online. Obviously the successor to the sleek Excalibur, the Cavalier doesn't look as refined to these jaded eyes, but it's certainly got the horsepower under the hood to make up for its sharper, more Blackberry-esque lines. For starters, that 200MHz OMAP is now a 400MHz, which is just what's needed to power the UMTS / HSDPA. It's also got a higher capacity battery (though not by much -- 1050mAh over 960), a 2 megapixel camera, and the requisite 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 2.0. Don't worry about it though, it won't make it to America until late spring by our wholly unscientific estimates, so your investment is safe for at least a couple months before importers make you miserable with longing.

    Information acquired from Engadget.
